I won’t worry about the age or paleness of my skin,
nor the stretch marks and the scars.
I’ll wear them bold and colourful,
with green and purple stars.
I’ll lay in fields of liquid gold, and gaze up at the sky,
not a second thought for the bugs and insects crawling up my thigh.
I’ll read books in the sun, and have picnics for my lunch,
paddle my feet in the water,
and visit the glorious seaside, at least once.
I’ll camp out in the garden,
watch the sunset from the lawn.
Shorts replaced by PJs,
now they’ve been proudly worn.
